Pineapple Butter Mold, Large and Vintage, Lathe Turned and Primitive
Description: Beautiful large vintage wooden butter mold. This plunger type mold has an engraving of a primitive stylized pineapple surrounded by two incised circles. The mold appears to be lathe-turned and the wood has acquired a nice brown color patina over the years. It is made of a hardwood.
Size: This beautiful mold measures 4 3/4" in diameter and is about 7 1/2" in height, when fully extended. The print is 3 3/8" in diameter and is 1" in height.
Condition: This butter mold is in excellent condition and appears to be all original. It has one crack in the mold (at 2:00 o’clock) and one repair to the print itself (at 11 o'clock) where it looks like the print lost a part and a piece of wood was cut in a semi circle and glued to the print. This repair is very well done and does not reach the engraving of the pineapple. There are also a few scratches commensurate with its age. Regardless, the piece is solid and is a worthy addition to your collection. Because this piece is not perfect, we are selling it "AS IS".
