Limoges France Hand Painted Eximious Trinket Box Having Black Dog Sitting on Lid
Description: A beautiful oval-shaped hand painted porcelain trinket box by Eximious in Limoges France. The box has hinged lid with the hinge equipped with a flattened center to serve as a stopper to allow the box's lid to stand in vertical position when opened. The lid has a black dog on top sitting on a green colored background. There is the image of a bone and a bowl with yellow spillage next to it. This very colorful box has a hinged lid. Both top and bottom of the box are fitted with brass rings having a hinge on the back and a locking thumb piece in the form of a dog walking attached to the front of the top portion. The box has an oval bottom also colored in light green on the sides and having the name of the maker and the origin written in beautiful black cursive calligraphy on the white bottom. The inside of the box is white and has a pink colored bone on the bottom. This is a very nice piece from Limoges France to add to your collection of small trinket boxes. Date: Uncertain, but most likely sometime in the 1970s or 1980s, possibly earlier.
Origin: Made in Limoges, France.
Size: The box is ~2" by ~1 1/4" at the base and is ~5/8" high to the flat top of the box. The dog itself is ~1 1/4" high from the flat top of the box to the top of its head. This box weighs about 1.5 ounces.
Maker: Eximious of Limoges, France.
Marks: Marked on the bottom of the box in beautiful black cursive calligraphy "Limoges France; Paint Main; dB; Eximious". We believe the dB are the initials of the artist.
