Limoges France Hand Painted Gift Box Shape with Bow Blue & Gold Colored Box
Description: A small beautiful squared hand painted trinket box from Limoges France. This very blue and gold colored box has a hinged lid. Both top and bottom of the box are fitted with brass rings having a hinge on the back and a thumb piece on the front top portion. The brass hinged closure mechanism has a thumb piece in the shape of a bow. The lid of the box is a large blue, white and gold colored bow making the entire box look like a gift box. The sides of the box are blue with a gold-colored floral design. The box has a flat bottom having the indication that the box is hand painted and made in Limoges. It also has what we believe are the initials of the artist who painted butt we are unable to make them out. The inside of the box is white and has a gold-colored flower in the center of the bottom half. This is a very nice piece from Limoges France to add to your collection of small trinket boxes. Date: Uncertain, but most likely sometime in the 1980s or 1990s, possibly earlier.
Origin: Made in Limoges France.
Size: The box is ~1 1/2" by ~1 1/2" at the base and is ~1 1/2" high to the top of the bow. This box weighs about 2 ounces.
Marks: Marked on the bottom of the box in beautiful black cursive calligraphy "Paint Main; Limoges France" followed by what we believe are the initials of the artist who decorated the box but we are unable to make them out.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: A beautiful vintage piece which would make a great addition to any collection or can be used as a great gift.
Condition: The box is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or crazing. The box is clean and the lid closes well and tightly. A great piece to add to your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information and to appreciate the beauty of this box.
