Malawi 50 Tambala Banknote Reserve Bank Act 1964 1973-1974 Issue Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda Pick Number 9a

Description: A nice very fine or much better banknote from Malawi. This is the third issue 50 Tambal note issued based on the Reserve Bank of Malawi Act of 1964, specifically this is a note from the 1973-1974 issue. The note is blue-gray in color on multicolored underprint. It depicts the image of Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda, the president of Malawi in the period 1961-1994 to the right of the front. The front also has the image of fishermen on a boat on lake Malawi. The note is signed by the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Malawi at the time of issue. The back of the note depicts the image of a man harvesting sugar cane. The note does not have a watermark that we could find, although the standard catalog suggests that there is a watermark depicting a rooster. The note has a solid security thread. This particular note is undated and has the serial number C563817. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Condition: I would grade the banknote as a good very fine or much better. The note has several vertical folds and general wrinkling. It displays some minor soiling but no major objectionable stains. The corners are relatively squared and intact with minimum rounding, but has some bumps and creases. The note has some light roughness along the edges and some minor nicks especially at the end of the folds. The note has no tears, splits, or pinholes. It is graffiti free and retains its vivid coloring. Please see the photos for additional condition information.
