Old Chromed Nickel Plated Match Safe or Vesta, Celluloid Image of Beautiful Maiden
Description: Antique thin pocket match safe, matchsafe or vesta made of chromed or nickel plated metal. This match safe has a central colorful image of a woman with her hair up and wearing a light colored dress with a red border. The image is on what appears to be celluloid, inside a bezel on the lid. The lid is hinged and comprises almost a quarter of the front. The vesta has a hoop on top which can be used to attach it to a chain. It has a striker on the bottom and the back is plain. This antique match safe was probably made in the USA in the late 1800s or early 1900s. The match safe has no markings as to the maker's name. It comes with a few vintage matches that were in it when we acquired it. Pleases carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: An antique and beautiful piece with a very nice image.
Condition: Match safe is in very good condition with no major problems. The hinged lid works great. The vesta has one or two minor and shallow dings to lid near the bottom. It has scratches and a few spots where the chrome or platting is lost on the back. Finally the loop on the top of the match safe is a bit loose and moves in its place but is not removable neither is it about to fall off, just wobbly in place. It also has general wear commensurate with its age and utilitarian function. Please see photos for additional condition information.
