Old Hand Made Sixteen-Tube Tray Top Candle Mold 8 1/2" Candles 2-Finger Loops

Description: A beautiful antique primitive tray top candle mold. This is a sixteen-tube candle mold to make 8 1/2" long tube candles. The mold has ~3/4" diameter openings on one end for the base of the candles being made. The mold also has small openings at the opposite end to allow for the wick to stay out of the candle. The piece is soldered together and is very well done. It has a two finger-loops soldered to the edges of the top tray to hold it and carry it. The mold is also equipped with two long flat brackets soldered to the tubes near the small opening end and two short brackets soldered to the sides. These provide the mold with great stability and ensures that it will hold for a long time. A very interesting antique tin mold in excellent condition. Date: Uncertain but most likely mid to late 19th century.

Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania, where it was most likely made.

Size: The top tray measures ~9 1/2" by ~3 1/4", the opposite side measures ~7 1/2" by ~1 1/2". The piece is ~9 1/8" at its longest, and ~11" at its widest. The piece weighs about one pound and ten ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a very nice primitive tin Americana piece in great condition and worthy of a spot in your collection.

Condition: The mold is intact with some wear to the surface and some rust spots throughout. It is in good condition with no break, losses, or repairs. The surface has scratches, minor dings and some rust spots, which can be seen in the photos but are nothing of true concern. The brackets have some distortion and bends, which would not affect the functionality of the piece. The piece is generally clean and has aged to a warm gray colored patina.
