Old Turned Maple Wood Lidded Cylindrical Canister Lid Having Button Cap Finial

  • $ 77.77

Description: A beautiful antique lathe turned maple wood lidded canister. The piece has a lid with a central finial that is, in our opinion, button shaped with a central riser. The piece has a flat circular base with a shaped extended foot and slightly curved sides ending in a shaped top having a central riser to accommodate the lid. The lid has a flat top and the finial in the center. This lath turned wood canister has a beautiful stained and varnished surface with a light brown color. The interior is not stained or varnished and shows the bare wood. The piece is unmarked. This a antique worthy of a spot in any collection. Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is definitely a nice handmade antique canister with nice coloring and patina.

Condition: The piece is in very good condition. The piece has no breaks, cracks, or repairs. The finish is in relatively good condition with some losses and a few scratches. It is soiled on the inside and outside with some minor dings to the edges and minor roughness. The inside shows some residue, which we did not attempt to clean and you can see it the photos. Be that as it may, the piece is solid and intact and the piece is truly beautiful and would make a great addition to your collection of wood turnings.
