Vintage Carved Wood Primitive Butter Print Stylized Eagle with Shield Toothed Border

Description:  A beautiful vintage lathe turned and carved wood wooden butter print. The butter print, which is made of wood, has a carving depicting an eagle with its wings next to its body and its chest shaped as a shield with stripes. There are plant branches on both sides of the eagle. The eagle has arrows in its talons. The print is surrounded with a double lined circle and a toothed border. The print has a knob like handle attached to it. The entire piece appears to be made of a light hard wood. Date: Uncertain, most likely early to mid 1900s, but could be a bit earlier.

Origin: Purchased at an estate auction Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Size: Measures ~4" in diameter at the design part and is ~3 1/8" high.

Maker: Unknown.

Marks: Unmarked.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Very interesting vintage butter print with a nice and very desirable design.

Condition: The piece is in excellent condition given its age and utilitarian function. It has no repairs, or losses. The handle and back show wear and soiling. The front shows discoloration to the wood, which can be seen in the photos. The piece has no cracks, breaks, hairlines, or repairs. It has no losses and looks great.
