Vintage Hallmarked Plated Copper Large Trinket Box Repousse Design Showing People Hinged Lid with Wood Interior
Description: This is a beautiful vintage large box with plated copper exterior. The box, which has a hinged lid, displays a repousse design on the exterior depicting a large group of people together and having a great time. They are sitting, standing, eating, drinking, and dancing. Such design is very common in Dutch boxes, which leads us to assume this box is mad in the Netherlands. This box is relatively large in size measuring ~7 1/2" by ~6" by ~3 1/4" and weighing over 2 pounds. The box is made of copper and is plated with the plating very evident on the bottom and lost on the high points of the design exposing the copper, metal below it suggesting the box is of older vintage. It is great looking with the design being very detailed and well done. It has a hinged lid which is golden in color on the inside and shows the repousse design negative. It is lined with wood and is clean and solid. The box is hallmarked on the bottom, which would suggest it is a valuable and well made box and that its maker was proud and saw fit to mark it. It is truly a beautiful piece worthy of a spot of your collection of vintage trinket boxes. Please carefully review photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
