Vintage Hand Painted Porcelain Trinket Box Quattro Lobe Shape Floral Decoration

Description: A beautiful and very interesting hand painted porcelain trinket box. The box is in a quattro lobe shape with a flat base having a recessed center. The box, which we believe is continental, is marked in blue under glaze on the bottom. The box is green in color with the top and sides having a floral painting on white background. The box has a hinged lid with a brass thumb piece is the shape of ram's horns. The sides of the box are green with gold highlights. The hinge is equipped with a small flattened spots to serve as a stopper for the box's lid when opened. The top is mostly white with very colorful floral painting and a green border with gold highlights throughout. Both top and bottom of the box are fitted with brass frames at the edges with a hinge on the back and a locking thumb piece attached to the front of the top portion. The inside of the box is white in color with the bottom half having a flower drawing. The top half of the inside also has a flower drawing. This is a very nice piece from somewhere in Europe, most likely France or Germany to add to your collection of small trinket boxes. Date: Unknown, but most likely sometime early to mid 1900, possibly earlier.

Origin: Made somewhere in Europe.

Size: The box measures ~1" by ~3/4" at the base, ~2 1/4" by ~1 1/2" on top of the lid and is ~1 3/4" high. The box weighs about 2 ounces.

Maker: Unknown.

Marks: Marked on the bottom with blue under glaze. The markings is unfamiliar to us, so we are unable to identify the maker.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: A beautiful and rather uncommon vintage piece which would make a great addition to any collection or can be used as a great gift.

Condition: The box is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or crazing. The box is clean, with minor soiling along the foot of the base, and the hinge is intact. The lid closes well but has a bit of a a gap when closed. The thumb piece is a bit difficult o open and requires some prying to open.
