AE Vatican/Papal State Medal Clement IX Anno I (1667-69) Jesus Washing the Feet

  • $ 159.99

Description: A nice extremely fine to about uncirculated bronze medal issued in the name of Pope Clemet IX who served as pontiff of the Catholic Church in the period 1667-1669. The small high relief medal shows the bust of pope Clement IX facing left on the obverse with the legend "CLEMENS*IX*PONT*MAX*ANNO*I"" surrounding it. The medal was designed by Alberto Hamerani/Amerani his official medalist. The reverse of the medal shows the image of the Jesus on his knees washing the feet of a man seated in front of him. The reverse has the legend "TV*DOMINV*ETMAGISTER" along the edge surrounding the medal and "EXEMPI.DEDI/VORTS." in exergue. The medal is nicely toned and has great eye appeal. A truly nice-looking restruck medal by the mint of Rome, which would make a worthy addition to any collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
