Antique Glazed Pottery Flower Decorated Syrup or Creamer Pewter Lid with Thumb Piece Marked IVOIRE

Description:  A beautiful glazed pottery lidded syrup or creamer having an applied handle. This creamer has a round base which flares inwards with straight sides. The sides are ribbed and have a nice look. The piece is decorated a hand colored transfer floral design. That is the outline of the floral design is a transfer which was then hand colored. The delicate floral design is very colorful and has green, red, brown and yellow. The entire piece has a nice yellow cream coloring with a brown design at the rim and the back of the handle. The piece has a hinged pewter lid which is attached to the handle. The lid has a thumb piece to open it with. The lid has a central dome surrounded by a nice incised geometric design. The piece is marked on the bottom with the word "IVOIRE." The inside is also glazed with the same background coloring. Just a great looking antique. Date: Mid to late 1800's.

Origin: Was purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Size: Measures ~2 1/2" diameter at the base, ~2 1/2" diameter at the top, and is ~6 3/4" at its highest to the top of the thumb piece. The piece weighs about 13 ounces.

Maker: Unknown.

Marks: Marked with the word "IVOIRE" within a rectangle in blue print under the glaze.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a beautiful piece of antique decorative pottery.

Condition: The syrup is in excellent condition with no cracks, hairlines, chips, breaks, or repairs. It does have general crazing to the glaze, which is difficult to see but is there. It also has lighter colored spots especially near the base, which we are not sure what they are but they do not distract from the beauty of the piece. In Closing: This is a beautiful lidded creamer or syrup with nice colors and shape. Definitely deserves a prominent spot in your antique pottery collection.
