  • $ 224.99

Description: A nice and scarce nicely toned PCGS XF40 copper 1838 Matron Head Modified Liberty Head large cent or penny. The coin itself is better than the scan shows and has much of its details evident. The details of the coins are very distinct and show minimum wear. Just look at Liberty's head and the details of her hair and the word LIBERTY on the obverse. The word one cent in the center of the reverse and the words United States of America are very distinct while the wreath has some wear but still is well preserved. The coin has wear commensurate with its age and circulated status. The coin is problem free and in original condition. The fogginess you observe in the photos are due to the plastic holder interfering with the photo and is not in the coin itself and the coin is much better than the scan suggests These coins were designed by Christian Gobrecht . Early US coins such as this are gradually getting difficult to find in such good state of preservation. Please carefully review scan presented as it is part and parcel of our description.
