Nice 1858 Small Letters Flying Eagle Cent Penny Very Good or Better

  • $ 31.00

Description: A very good or better copper-nickel Flying Eagle cent or penny. This is the 1858 issue. It is the small letter variety. The coin itself is better than the photos suggest and shows wear commensurate with its age and use. The coin shows a flying eagle with the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" surrounding it and the date below on the obverse. The reverse shows the denomination spelled out within a wreath. The coin shows even wear throughout and a small nick to the edge at 2:00 o'clock on the obverse. Be that as it may, it is still nice looking and shows the beautiful design with no detectable problems. These coins were designed by James Longacre and are becoming difficult to obtain in any grade. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1858.

Mint: Philadelphia.

Size and weight: The coin weighs ~4.6 grams of a copper-nickel alloy and is 19 mm in diameter.

Condition: I would grade this coin as very good or better with even wear throughout. The coin has one nick at 2:00 o'clock on the obverse, other than that it is problem free and much better looking than the photos suggest. A nice coin worthy of a spot in your collection. Please see photos to appreciate the beauty and condition of this coin.
