  • $ 49.99

Description: A very nice faceted crystal paperweight by Cristalleries et Verreries de Vianne or Cristal d'Albert. The piece is made of clear crystal glass, is round with seven side facets and an additional large facet on top. The paperweight has a white sulphide cameo of Albert Schweitzer, philosopher and humanitarian, on the inside. The base of the paperweight is cut or formed in the shape of diamonds with amethyst color. The base has a central smooth concave circle with the words "CR. ALBERT-FRANCE" along its edge. The Cameo has the name "Dr SCHWEITZER" followed by "Cr CP 1969" on its base. This is a great looking sulphide paperweight that is over 50 years old. It is heavy to keep your paper from flying away. This is a nice size paperweight weighing about over 14 ounces and is just great looking. Please carefully view photos as they are part and parcel of the description.

Date: The paperweight is dated 1969.

Maker: Cristalleries et Verreries de Vianne or Cristal d'Albert.

Marks: Signed "Cr CP" and dated 1969 on cameo and marked "CR. ALBERT-FRANCE" on the bottom in the center of the base.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Just a beautiful art glass paperweight with the image of one of a great historical man and Nobel Prize winner. Definitely a quality piece worthy of a prominent spot in your collection.

Condition: The paperweight is in very good condition and has no cracks, hairlines, or repairs. We have looked it over very carefully with a 10X loop and saw a line within the glass near the base which formed during the casting of the piece and is original to the making. The line is very difficult to see with the naked eye, but is there. The piece also has some minor surface scratches commensurate with its age and use. However, these do not distract from the beauty or quality of the piece. Please see photos for additional condition information.
