1971 Mary Gregory Style Westmorland Glass Painted Frosted Blue Vase Artist Signed C. Steeley

Description:   A beautiful frosted blue colored art glass vase. This vase, which was decorated by C. Steeley is in the Mary Gregory Style. It is made of molded light blue frosted glass with a painting of a boy (Huck Finn) sitting under a tree at the edge of a stream with a fishing pole. His dog is playing in the water and anticipating the next catch. The painting is in a silhouette fashion in white enamel. It shows great and beautiful details such as the leaves on the tree, the water under the boy's and dog's feet, and the detail in the boy's features as well as his clothing. The piece is signed by the artist C. Steeley. The vase has a round base with a slightly concave bottom and having a maker's mark CW. The sides of the vase are rounded and rise to a constriction which in turn flares outwards and ends in a plain rim. The vase has a frosted light blue coloring,, which makes it opaque. Origin:  Purchased at an estate auction in South Central Pennsylvania. 

Size:  Base is ~ 2 3/4 in diameter, the top is ~ 3 1/8" in diameter, ~5 1/2" diameter at its widest, and is ~7 1/8" high. 

Maker:  Westmorland Glass Company. 

Marks:  Marked with Intertwined GW in raised lettering on the base. The painting decoration is signed C. Steeley and dated 1971 in cursive calligraphy. 

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece:  This is a beautiful, very fine, nicely decorated, and delicate piece of molded art glass with great colors.  

Condition: In excellent condition given its age. It has no cracks, hairlines, chips, or breaks. Its colors are fresh and beautiful with no losses to the decoration. Just a gorgeous decorative piece. Please see photos for additional details.
