1933 Official Medal Chicago International Exposition Century of Progress Zettler

  • $ 87.77

Description: A nice large and heavy bronze medal from 1933. This is the official medal of the Chicago International Exposition. It was struck by the US mint at their exhibit at the exposition. The medal shows an art deco design, on the obverse, depicting a man standing with a wing covering his privates with his arms raised to shoulder height. He is standing over blocks with the left block having the date 1833 and the right block having the date 1933. The man's hands are reaching out to the words INDUSTRY and RESEARCH. The reverse shows a map of the fairgrounds with an arrow pointing to the north. It has the legend "INTERNATIONA EXPOSITION CHICAGO 1933A CENTURY OF PROGRESS" along the edge surrounding the map. The obverse has the initials ERZ below the word Industry while the reverse shows the name ZETTLER, on the top, for Emil Robert Zettler the designer of the medal. The medal has a plain edge, is 57 mm in diameter and weighs 80 grams. A great looking and very interesting medal commemorating an important event of the 20th century to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
