Small 1842 Bronze Medal High Relief King Louis Philippe 1st Duke of Orleans His Son on Horse Back Armies of the Prince
Description: A very nice 1842 high relief bronze medal issued in France. The medal depicts the head of King Louis Philippe the first facing right on the obverse. The king's head is surrounded with the legend "LOUIS PHILIPPE I / ROI DES FRANCAIS." The reverse has the image of the Duke of Orleans the royal prince riding a horse facing right with the date below in roman numerals. The reverse has the legend "L'ARMEE AU DUC D'ORLEANS PRINCE ROYAL" surrounding the image and the date M.DCCC.XLII in exergue. The medal has an unmarked plain edge. It also has inscription under the horse's hoof, which we are unable to make out (could be the name of the maker). This is a truly nice looking medal, which would make a worthy addition to any collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
