1957 Belgian Congo and Ruanda-Urundi Central Bank 20 Francs Banknote Crisp UNC
Description: A beautiful crisp uncirculated or much better banknote from the Belgian Congo. This is the 1 October 1957 Twenty Francs currency note issued by the Central Bank of the Belgian Congo and Ruanda-Urundi. The banknote is green on multicolored underprint. The front depicts the image of a young boy smiling to the left with the image of a water reservoir in the center. The back has the same color scheme as the front and displays the image of young girl to the right with a river scene with a person fishing in the center. The front in in French, has the denomination, the date, the serial number and two signatures. The back is in Flemish, displays the denomination, and the same two signatures. The note has a watermark of an elephant's head facing left when observing it from the front. This particular note has the serial number AC675185, which is displayed twice in black on the front but not on the back. Condition: I would grade this banknote as choice crisp uncirculated or much better with all the details being very well preserved. The note has no folds, no tears, no splits, and no repairs. It is clean with no soiling and no stains. The note has no pinholes, no graffiti, and no observable wear to the edges. The note retains all of its original stiffness and crispiness. The corners are intact, fully squared with no rounding. This is a great example of this rather scarce note, which would make a nice addition to your collection.
