1987 Pennsylvania Folk Art Carved Painted Bird on Top of Heart By Alan Kohr
Description: A hand carved wood and polychrome painted American Folk Art bird sitting on a red heart. The carving, which was done by Alan Khor, was made in 1987. Alan Kohr is a resident of Montgomery County Pennsylvania. The carving shows a bird laying down on top of a red heart emanating from a square base. The bird appears to have a small wooden shaft extending from the bottom of his chest and is imbedded into the top of the heart, thus holding the piece together. The bird is long an elegant. It is pained in grayish brown with carved wings that are dark in color with dots and has a long tail with painted dark lines to show feathers. The bi8rd has red eyes with black centers. The piece is signed A. Kohr on the bottom of the base and has the date 1987. It is in great condition with no observable damage. A great piece of folk art to add to your collection. Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: The bird itself is ~3 1/2" long, ~1 1/4" at its widest, with the base being ~2" by ~2" and the entire piece being ~4 3/4" high. The piece weighs slightly over 1 ounce.

Marks: Marked A. Kohr 1987 in black on the bottom of the base.
