Antique Ca. 1800s Pewter Small Round Footed Master Table Salt Nice Gray Patina
Description: Antique pewter circa 1800s master salt. The master salt is round with a round bowl supported by a pedestal style foot. The piece is relatively small and has developed a nice dark gray age patina The bowl is darker and shows pitting most likely because it used to contain salt. The piece is unmarked and it origin is unknown. It is soiled and could use a good cleaning to bring out its full beauty, but we leave that to the discretion of the new owner. This is a nice piece which would display very nicely in your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Unknown but it was made sometime in the 1800s.
Origin: Purchased at an estate sale in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: The salt is ~1 1/2" high, ~2 3/4" in diameter at the top, and is ~2 1/8" in diameter at the base. The piece weighs over ~2.5 ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice looking small antique pewter salt which would display very well in your collection.
Condition: This salt is in relatively good condition given its age and utilitarian function. It has no breaks, cracks, or repairs. The piece has a general warm gray patina on the exterior but the inside of the bowl shows signs of pitting and a rather dark patina which most likely resulted from the salt which was in it. The piece has scratches, some dings, and is leaning to one side. The edge of the base has a few dings and some distortion. Be that as it may, this is a nice antique, which would display nicely in your collection. Please view photos for additional condition information.
