1958 Large Royal Doulton Figural Toby Mug "Capt. Ahab" Limited Edition

Description:  This is a Beautiful Figural mug by the Royal Doulton Company. This mug is titled Captain Ahab after the famous character in the classic novel Moby Dick. The Mug is shaped in the form of the face of an older sailor with a beard and a scar on his right cheek. The sailor is wearing a dark blue hat and dark blue coat and white shirt.  The mug is nicely glazed and has very vivid colors. It has Blues, Flesh Tones, and Grays. The handle is shaped like a whale colored in a bluish gray and a white under belly.  It also has the words Capt. Ahab incised on the back on the collar. A rare and real nice piece which is very desirable by collectors of Toby Mugs. Please view the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Size: ~6 5/8" high, 5 1/4" by 8" at its widest, wide, and the base is 4 5/8" by 3 3/4". The piece weighs over 1 1/2 pounds.

Maker: Royal Doulton.

Marks: Royal Doulton Mark with a lion over a crown on top of a circle having four "D"s in its center and the words Made in England; Royal Doulton;  England around it. It has a series of Rd Nos. below it all. See the last photo for more details.
