  • $ 117.77

Description: A nice large and heavy bronze medal from 1960. This is the Society of Medalists sixty first issue medal. The medal has the image of Romulus and Remus in the style of ancient coins on the obverse. ROMVLVS ET REMVS above the image of the two brothers and SPQR below it. The reverse shows the image of Emperor Constantine sitting on his throne with a crown on his head holding Scepter and Orb. He is receiving the apparition of the Holy Cross. The reverse also has the legend "IN.HOCX.SIGNO.VINCES.CONSTANTIVS.AVG" surrounding the image of the seated emperor. The medal has a beautiful textured dark patinaed surface. The edge of the medal is marked "The Society of Medalists 61st Issue-MAY 1960 LEO LENTELLI SC. and "Medallic Art Company N.Y. Bronze". A great looking and very interesting American art medal to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Condition: The medal is in excellent condition and if it was a coin, I would grade it about uncirculated or much better. The medal has minimum wear if any at all with minimum surface marks or scratches. It has what I view as beautiful red gold bronze with a glossy brown patina representing one of the two surface finishes for this issue. The medal is great looking and is problem free. A great medal to add to your collection. Please view photos for additional condition information and to appreciate the beauty of the piece.
