1974 Royal Copenhagen Large Annual Mug Sterling Silver Medallion Crowned AM Mark
Description: This is a beautiful blue and white large cylindrical mug with an applied handle. The mug which is dated 1974 is from the Annual Mugs series issued in the period 1967-2014 by the Royal Copenhagen pottery of Denmark. This pottery mug has a flat round base with a central button made of Sterling Silver. The button, which would benefit from a good polish, is marked "925 S DENMARK" in two lines and has the letters "AM" with a crown above them all within a triangle with curved sides. The design on the mug shows grape like round design dispersed with what looks like apple or pear slices all in various shades of blue. Very modernistic! The design encompasses the date 1974 within it near at the bottom. The mug has additional markings on the base indicating it is made in Denmark. A real nice piece which is very desirable by collectors of Mugs. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Origin: Denmark.
Size: The mug is ~4" in diameter at the base, ~4” in diameter at the top, ~4 5/8" high, and is ~5 3/4" at its widest including the handle. The piece weighs about 1 pound 4.5 ounces.
Maker: Royal Copenhagen.
Marks: On the base in black under glaze the following markings: Crown with the word ROYAL COPENHAGEN surrounding it and the word DENMARK under it. There are wavy lines below that, then the word FAJANCE and the letters "VP" below it all. There is also an abstract mark in a circle, which we are not familiar with. Finally, the sterling button has the marks "925 S DENMARK" in two lines and the crowned letters AM within a triangle having curved sides. There is also what looks like number impressed into the base near the edge. See photos for additional details.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a real nice 48 years old piece in great condition, which is very desirable to collectors of Royal Copenhagen.
Condition: The Mug is in excellent condition. It has no chips, cracks, hairlines, crazing, or repairs. The piece is a bit soiled with the foot being a bit darkened with soiling and the Sterling Silver button, on the bottom, being a bit tarnished. It would benefit from a good cleaning to bring out its full beauty, but we leave that to the discretion of the new owner. Please see photos for additional condition information and details.
