Antique Hand Painted Porcelain Round Trinket Box Made in Portugal Artist Signed
Description: This is a beautiful antique round porcelain trinket box. The box has a domed lift-off lid that is hand painted with a central scene showing a deer frolicking in the midst of a busy floral scene showing a cloudy sky. The edge of the lid as well as the sides of the box are also had decorated with geometric decorations of colorful semicircles and lines. The color scheme is consistent throughout with brown, green, black and light blue or gray through it all. The lid fits loosely on top of the box and the cylindrical shaped box has a bulge near the base and has a foot. It is signed on the bottom.
Date: Early to mid 1900's.
Size: Measures 2 3/8" in diameter, the lid is actually 3" in diameter, the box is 2" high including the lid.
Marks: In writing "141 Conimbriga Portugal Sec=XVII TM"
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is definitely a beautiful and unusual antique porcelain box. It is a reproduction of 17th century Portuguese pottery. Definitely a great find.
Condition: Box is in excellent condition given its age. It has no chips, breaks, repairs, hairlines, or crazing. Please see photos to appreciate the quality and condition of the piece.
