Beautiful 1965 Italian Papal State Uncirculated Commemorative Bronze Medal Fourth & Final Session of the Ecumenical Council Pope Paul VI
Description: A beautiful official commemorative bronze medal from the Italian Papal States. This is the 1965 medal commemorating the Fourth & Final Session of the Ecumenical Council and was struck in 1965 during the times of Pope Paul VI. The medal depicts the image of pope Paul VI praying in front of the crucified Christ with an angel above. There is the legend "VOBISCUM SUM.OMNIBUS DIEBUS" ALONG THE EDGE OF THE OBVERSE. The reverse depicts the image of two olive branches with intersected key with a shepherd staff in the center with a small lamb and cross in its top. The reverse also has the legend "VATICANUM II.SESSIO.IVCONCILUM.OECUMENICUM" along the edge. The medal weighs ~32.6 grams and measures ~44 mm in diameter. This is a beautiful medal designed by Venanzo Crocetti having well done details and beautiful dark brassy toning throughout. Condition: I would grade the medal as uncirculated with no observable wear. The details of the medal are extremely well expressed and preserved. The medal has a beautiful brassy toning throughout. It has a very nice images with no observable wear and great preservation of the details. It is nicely toned and has great eye appeal. It would make a nice addition to your collection.
