Beautiful Van Briggle Pottery Matte Mulberry Console Bowl Raised Tulips Design
Description: Most beautiful mulberry colored art pottery elongated console bowl made by the Van Briggle Pottery Company. The bowl features beautiful tulips on all four sides of the bowl with leaves on either side of the flowers done in shades of green under the mulberry color of the bowl. This is a nice size bowl with a nice colored glaze. The piece is elongated and has the raised design of the tulips and leaves all around the exterior of the bowl. The top of the edge of the top of the bowl is slightly curved inward and has curvature and has a nice look. This is a beautiful piece with nice detail and is highly decorative. The piece has a flat footed base on which it rests and the base is marked with the Van Briggle Pottery mark. Date: Uncertain but this type of bowl was produced sometime in the 1950s-1960's.
Origin: Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Size: The piece measures ~8 1/4" long, 5 1/2" wide and is ~3" high. The flat base measures ~4 1/2" by ~2 3/4" and the piece weighs One pound and seven ounces.
Maker: Van Briggle Pottery Company.
Marks: Incised on the bottom Van Briggle; Colo. Spgs. all under the typical Van Briggle mark of a door or window in a rectangle.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a truly nice old piece which would make a great addition to your collection. The colors are fresh and vivid and would display very well. Condition: The piece is in very good condition. It has no hairlines, cracks, chips, breaks, or repairs. The piece has general crazing throughout and has a couple of spots with white blemishes on the surface. The interior has white deposit along the edge which appears to be calcium deposits from water that dried in the bowl. This would probably clean easily but even if it does not, the piece will still display nicely and would look great in your collection.
