England Bone China Royal Doulton Springer Spaniel Dog Pheasant in Mouth Hn 1137
Description: A nice and relatively large vintage porcelain or Bone China figurine of a black and white Cocker Spaniel dog sitting on its hind legs and holding a dead Pheasant in its mouth. This large porcelain dog is ~6 1/2" high and ~10" long from tail to muzzle. The dog has a very colorful (brown, black, red, and blue) pheasant in his mouth. The dog is sitting on his hind legs and has his front legs stretched. The dog itself has black ears, black nose, and black hind. Its body is white with additional black colored highlights. The piece is hand painted and nicely crafted Bone China. It shows great details such as the eyes for both the dog and the bird, the hair on the dog's body, and the birds eyes and beak. It is marked on the bottom in green under the glaze with the Royal Doulton mark and what looks like Hn 1137 with three dots below it in black under glaze. It is known that this number indicates the piece was made sometime between 1937 and 1966. The piece was designed by Frederick Daws. A great piece to add to your collection.
