Old Native American Black Pottery Pot Slanted Pinch Pattern Decoration
Description: An old (early 1900s) unsigned Santa Clara type black-ware pot. This old pot has an angular or slanted pinch pattern decoration near the top. The piece has a round flat base with rounded sides rising to a large top opening in the usual tradition of Native American Indians potter. This black-ware piece of pottery has a nice old burnished surface. The piece is unmarked as to the maker or its origin. However, the appearance and condition of its surface suggest the piece is of the Santa Clara type pottery and is old. The pot shows crazing to the surface, some minor losses to the finished surface, and a chip on the inside of the top rim. These issues can be seen in the photos. A nice piece of Native American Indian pottery worthy of a spot in your collection or to decorate your home. Please see photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Uncertain but probably early to mid 1900s.
Origin: US Southwest Size: The pieces measures ~2 1/8" in diameter at the base, ~3 1/2" in diameter at the top opening, and is ~2 15/16" tall. The pot weighs slightly over 14 ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: A nice piece of black Indian pottery which would make a great addition to your collection or can be used to decorated your home.
Condition: The piece is in good condition. It is intact with no hairlines, cracks, or repairs. The piece has a small chip to the inside edge of the top rim (see fourth photo at 5:30). The piece has crazing to the surface as well as some losses to the finished surface coloring especially along the top rim (see 4th photo) as well as to the bottom (see 5th photo). The piece is clean and solid. Because the piece is not perfect, we are selling it AS IS at a fraction of its true value.
