Rare Cream Colored Pennsbury Pottery Large Serving Bowl decorated with Green Rooster Design
Description: A nice size vintage serving bowl by Pennsbury Pottery. The bowl is decorated with a proud green rooster standing among branches with leaves on the front. The bowl does not have the usual brown color of Pennsbury pottery, but rather a cream colored background with a green colored rim. This piece is not listed or shown in Lucile Henzke's book "Pennsbury Pottery" published by Schieffer Publishing Ltd. of West Chester PA, in 1990, further suggesting the level of rarity of this piece.
Additional Information: These are, of course, discontinued patterns since Pennsbury closed in 1970. Bottom is marked "Pennsbury Pottery"
Date: 1950s - 1960s.
Origin: Falls Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Size: The bowl measures approximately 9" in diameter and is 2 1/4" high.
Maker: Pennsbury Pottery.
Marks: Pennsbury Pottery in green cursive calligraphy on the bottom.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Different in colors and shape than most Pennsbury pieces.
Condition: The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is considerable crazing to the glaze, but the colors and glaze are clear and bright. In Closing: This is a wonderful and very collectible piece which is very rare and difficult to find.
