Vintage Blown Art Glass Paperweight Cylindrical Shape with White Swirl and Central Bubble By Anthony DePalma Of Wheaton Village, NJ
Description: A beautiful nice size and rather heavy cylindrical blown glass paperweight by Anthony DePalma of Wheaton Village in New Jersey. This unusually shaped paperweight is made of clear glass with an elongated bubble in the center. The surface of the bubble has a white design of parallel curved lines starting at the bottom of the bubble and ending at the top. The surface of the cylinder is also decorated with a white design showing a swirl starting at the bottom and ending at the top. The piece has a round flat base and a domed top. It is very unusual in shape and design. It is rather large and heavy. This is truly a beautiful and rather unusual paperweight that is very decorative and would display nicely in your collection of art glass paperweights. It is rather heavy weighing two pounds. Date: Uncertain but most likely mid to third quarter 20th century.
Origin: Purchased at an estate sale in Southern New Jersey.
Size: The base is ~1 5/8" in diameter at the base and the piece is ~4 5/4" in height. The paperweight weighs about 2 pounds.
Maker: Anthony DePalma of Wheaton Village.
Marks: Signed "a DePalma" in cursive calligraphy on the bottom.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: A good size, heavy, and nice paperweight with an interesting and unusual design. The piece would display very well in your collection of paperweights collection.
Condition: The paperweight is in excellent condition and has no cracks, hairlines, or repairs. The colors of the piece are vivid and beautiful as is the design. The surface of the piece has a few minor scratches and minor nicks. These scratches and nicks cannot be seen with the naked eye and do not distract from the quality or beauty of the piece. Additionally, the paperweight has a few rather small and difficult to see air bubbles. This is an absolutely great paperweight that is beautiful and in great shape.
