Vintage Wedgwood Jasperware Dark Blue Colored Pitcher Putti, Women, Trees, Birds, and Animals

Description: A beautiful Wedgwood dark blue pitcher with an applied handle and a spout. The pitcher has a round footed base and outwards sides rising to a shoulder. The pitcher has a collar with a spout. The top rim has a plain edge. The pitcher has an ear shaped applied handle. The exterior of the pitcher is decorated with raised white designs depicting women, putti, an alter with fire, a horned deer, a bird, two tall trees and four short plants. The handle is also decorated with a raised decorative design. The collar is decorated with a floral garland all around. The pitcher is in dark blue, but is not as dark as some of the photos suggest. The color of the pitcher is closest to the color in the first photo and not in the next three photos. The pitcher has a round flat and depressed base with markings saying "Wedgwood" on one side and "MADE IN ENGLAND" on the opposite side. It also has the number 30 and the letter A as well as a mark ":l" opposite the number 30. This is a nice and highly decorative Jasperware pitcher with a nice color and a beautiful decorative motif on the sides. It would make a nice addition to any collection or as a great gift for the avid collector. Please carefully view photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: Uncertain but the markings suggest the piece was made some time in the period 1929-1969.

Origin: England.

Size: The pieces measure ~3 1/2" in diameter at the base, ~3 3/4" in diameter at the top, is ~6 1/2" at its widest including the spout and handle and is ~5 1/4" high. The vase weighs a bit over one pound and 6 ounces.

Maker: Wedgwood.

Marks: Stamped on the bottom of the base "Wedgwood" on one side and "MADE IN ENGLAND" on the opposite side. It also has the number 30 and the letter A as well as a mark ":l" opposite the number 30.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: A nice old piece of dark blue Wedgwood in great condition with beautiful and vivid colors, which would make a great addition to your Wedgwood pottery collection.

Condition: The pitcher is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, or crazing. The piece is in dark blue, but is not as dark as some of the photos suggest. The color of the pitcher is closest to the color in the first photo and not in the next three photos. The piece is lightly soiled especially along the edges of the base and the top and has some minor blemishes here and there, all of which can be seen in the photos. Finally, the piece has many spots that are white in color on top of the shoulder which we are not certain what they are. There is also a small spot representing a flake to the surface coloring, which can be seen in the third photo above the fire. Be that as it may, this is a very nice old piece worthy of a spot in your collection. Please see photos to appreciate the beauty of the bowl and for additional condition information.
