1893 Columbian Exposition Medal High Relief Columbus & Administration Building
Description: A metal, high relief, heavy, and rather large medal commemorating the Columbian Exposition, which took place in Chicago in 1893. The medal, which is rather thick has a high relief image showing Christopher Columbus 3./4 facing bust on the obverse with the word "COLUMBUS" in front of it. The reverse shows a building with a dome again in high relief with the legend "WORLDS COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION" above the building along the edge and the words "CHICAGO/1839/ADMINSTRATION BUILDING" in exergue. The edge of the medal is raised and the medal measures ~8 mm at the edge. The medal weighs 206 grams and is ~69.5 mm in diameter. The medal has a plain edge. A great looking medal that is dark in appearance, but beautiful and in extremely fine to about uncirculated condition with light rubbing signs to the high points and a few minor nicks all along the raised edge. Be that as it may, this is a nice medal and would make a great addition to your collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
