Beautiful Silver Coin 1879 AD 1293 AH Year 5 Egyptian One Qirsh Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II

  • $ 99.99

Description:  A great looking and rather rare about uncirculated or much better silver coin from Egypt. This is a one qirsh coin from the reign of Abdul Hamid II the Ottoman Sultan. The coin shows the sultan's tughra, roses to the right and above the tughra and the denomination below it. The reverse says Duribah Fi Misr (struck in Egypt) with the number 5 for the 5th year of Abdul Hamid II's reign over the letter "Beh" on top. There is also Abdul Hamid accession year of 1293 AH below it all on the reverse. It is KM 277 measuring approximately 17.5 mm in diameter and weighing 1.4 grams of 0.833 Silver. The coin has a toothed border on the obverse. This is a rare coin in this grade being of such low denomination, which was heavily circulated and abused or melted for the silver in it. Please carefully review scan presented as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1879 AD - 1293 AH Year 5 of Abdul Hamid II's reign.

Mint: Egypt.

Size and Weight: This is a one Qirsh and is ~17.5 mm in diameter and weighs ~1.4 grams.

Condition: I would grade this coin as a good about uncirculated or much better with all the details being well preserved. The coin has great eye appeal. The coin has some minor scratches and minor bag marks. It is much better than the scan shows. It has wear commensurate with its age and circulated status. The coin has excellent eye appeal and is beautiful. Please see photo for condition information.
