  • $ 347.77

Description: A beautiful and rather scarce bronze medal issued for the period between the death of Pope Pius VIII on 11/30/1830 and the election of Pope Gregory XVI on 2/2/1831 by the General Treasurer of the Sede Vacante M. Mattei. The obverse of the medal displays coat of arms in the center under some sort of cover with hanging tassels. It has the legend "SEDE VACANTE MDCCCXXX" surrounding the mage and the name NIC. CERBARA under the image. The reverse Has the text "MARIVS MATTEI; *R*C*A*; THESAVRARIVS; GENERALIE" in the center with a wreath below it. This is a medal issued by Mario Mattei the General Treasurer of the sede Vacante in 1930. A rather scarce medal, which we were unable to find on the internet after considerable search. A nice-looking medal, which would make a worthy addition to any collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1830. Origin: Vatican.

Weight and Size: The medal weighs ~15.7 grams, is ~31 millimeters in diameter, and ~3 millimeters thick at the edge.
