1935 Medal Society Of Medalists 12th Issue FIAT VITA By Anthony de Francisci
Description: A nice large and heavy silverplated bronze medal from 1935. This is the Society of Medalists twelfth issue medal. The obverse of the medal has the image of a hand with flames at the wrist carrying a child or infant in front of clouds with lightning in the background. The obverse also has the words FIAT VITA and the name "FRANCISCI" in a circle around (c) in the center. The medal achieves cloud like effect in general by its shape which is scalloped and raised in the middle. The reverse shows a the image of a swirling gas cloud with stars and lightning suggesting the creation of the cosmos. The edge of the medal is marked "The Society of Medalists; Twelfth Issue; Medallic Art Co. N.Y. " A great looking and very interesting medal, by one of Italy's top medalists to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Weight and Size: The medal weighs ~280 grams, is ~72 millimeters in diameter, and ~7 millimeters thick at the edge.
Maker: Medallic Art Company of New York.
Marks: Marked "The Society of Medalists; Twelfth Issue; Medallic Art Co. N.Y. " along the edge of the medal. There is the notation "FRANCISCI" in a circle around (c) in the center in the lower center of the obverse.
Condition: The medal is in excellent condition and I would grade it uncirculated. The medal has no observable wear with minimum surface marks or scratches. It has some brown specs on the obverse, which we believe it to be the bronze coloring coming through the silverplate since we do not observe loss to the silver plating. The reverse has a spot where some of the frosty antiquing used to finish the surface has been rubbed off.be that as it may, this is beautiful medal worthy of a spot your collection.
