1952 A. David Bronze Medal 2nd International Congress Biochemistry Paris R Fabre

  • $ 147.77

Description: A nice large and heavy bronze medal from 1952. This is a medal commemorating the second international congress of biochemistry held in Paris France in July 21-27, 1952. The medal which appears to have been awarded to Rene Fabre, the French Pharmacologist for his presentation at the congress, has the image of a kneeling nude female figure surrounded by plants, animals, insect, and crystals and the inscription: "BIOCHIMIE" below her on the obverse. It is signed Albert David along the edge of the obverse. The reverse depicts the image of a chemical structure with scientific apparatus in the background and the legend "2eme CONGRES INTERNATIONAL DE BIOCHIMIE; PARIS 1952" surrounding the central image and the name RENE FABRE in two lines next to the chemical structure. The reverse also has the letters A.D. along the edge of Albert David. The edge of the medal is plain and has the notation "BRONZE" and the Cornucopia Paris Mint Mark. The medal has a beautiful chocolate patina and is in mint state with no apparent signs of circulation. A great looking and very interesting French art medal to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

References: We only found one similar medal awarded to Linus Pauling at the same congress on the internet.

There is the marking "ALBERT DAVID" on the obverse along the edge and "A.D." on the reverse along the edge. It has what I view as beautiful dark chocolate toning with a matte patina. The medal is great looking and is problem free. A great medal to add to your collection.
