1968 Society Of Medalists 87th Issue Bronze Medal T Iles Perseverance Dedication
Description: A nice large and heavy bronze medal from 1968. This is the Society of Medalists seventy eighth issue medal. The medal shows a man looking through a microscope, in very high relief, with the legend “. PERSEVERANCE AND DEDICATION” along the edge of the obverse surrounding the image of the scientist. There is the name T. ILES (c) 1986 on the center below the man. The reverse shows a spider and a cobweb with a plant in the bottom left. According to the artist "the scientist symbolizes the never -ending quest of research, while the spider personifies the patience and perseverance needed to achieve results." The science is comparatively recent in origin while the spiders and their webs are millions of years old. The medal is in mint state condition with a beautiful golden matte patina. The edge of the medal is marked "THE SOCIETY OF MEDALISTS 78TH ISSUE-NOV. 1968-TERRY ILES, SC. (c) MEDALLIC ART CO. N.Y.". A great looking and very interesting medal to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
