Large Bronze US Mint Medal Millard Filmore Indian Peace Medal Dated 1850 UNC
Description: A nice large and heavy gold or brass colored bronze Indian Peace medal dated 1850. This is the US mint restrike of the Indian Peace medal issued in 1850. The medal shows the bust of President Millard Filmore facing right with the date 1850 under it on the obverse. The obverse has the legend "MILLARD FILMORE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES" along the edge above the president’s bust. The reverse shows a settler and a native American standing in front of the American flag the Legend "LABOR HONOR VIRTUE" above the design. This is a United States Mint restrike of the medal, which was designed by Salathiel Ellis for the obverse and Joseph Wilson for the reverse. The edge of the medal is unmarked. This is the US Mint medal number 113 and is listed by Julian as IP-30b. The medal comes wrapped in paper with its original box marked 113. A great looking and very interesting Indian Peace medal to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Condition: I would grade the medal as uncirculated with all the details being very well preserved. It is problem free with no observable wear. The medal is still in its original paper wrapper and comes in its original box. It has no wear and has what I view as beautiful brassy coloring and nice eye appeal. The box is soiled, has a few bumps, and a couple of small tears. A nice medal in great condition to add to your collection.
