1855 Peru Crown Size Silver Coin Eight Reales Lima Mint Liberty Standing Choice VF or Better
Description: A nicely toned, choice very fine or much better Peruvian crown size silver coin. This is a republic eight reales silver coin. The coin depicts liberty standing with a spear in her right hand and her left hand resting on a shield with the word "LIBERTAD" on the obverse. The image is surrounded with the legend "FIRME Y FELIZ POR LA UNION" along the edge. The reverse has the Peruvian arms within a wreath and having a large wreath above it. The reverse has the legend "REPUB*PERUANA*LIMA*8R*10Ds*20GsM*B*1855" with the LIMA mint mark in monogram. The coin has a reeded edge, which shows wear. The coin is nicely toned along the edges and has a beautiful bluish coloring around Liberty's head. It has nice eye appeal. Condition: I would grade the coin as choice VF or much better (please carefully examine the photos and judge its quality for yourself). The coin is very nicely toned along the edge and shows light overall even and honest wear. The reverse has some residual luster in the center while the obverse shows some bluish toning around liberty's head. The coin has some minor marks in the fields such as scratches and bag marks. It is in original circulated condition with wear commensurate with its age and circulated state. It looks great and would make a great addition to your collection.
