1879 Egypt Silver Coin One Qirsh or Piastre Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II BU

  • $ 117.77

Description:  A great looking and rather rare brilliant uncirculated silver coin from Egypt. This is a one qirsh coin from the reign of Abdul Hamid II the Ottoman Sultan who ruled the Islamic world in the period 1876-1909. The coin shows the sultan's tughra, roses to the right and above the tughra, and the denomination below it. The reverse says Duribah Fi Misr (struck in Egypt) with the number 4 for the 4th year of Abdul Hamid II's reign over the letter "Beh" on top. There is also Abdul Hamid accession year of 1293 AH below it all on the reverse. It is KM 277 measuring approximately 18 mm in diameter and weighing 1.1 grams of 0.833 Silver. Coins of low denomination such as this one are rather scarce in such a nice condition since they were heavily circulated, abused, or melted for the silver in them. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1879AD - 1293 AH year 4 of Abdul Hamid II's reign.

Size and weight: This is a one Qirsh and is ~18 mm in diameter and weighs ~1.1 grams of 0.833 silver.

Condition: I would grade this coin as a lovely brilliant uncirculated with all the details being extremely well preserved and retaining quite a bit of its original brilliance and luster. The coin has great eye appeal and is lustrous. The coin shows no observable wear with a few minor scratches. It is much better than the photos suggest and is problem free. The coin has excellent eye appeal and is beautiful. Please see photo for additional condition information.
