  • $ 169.99

Description: An extremely fine to about uncirculated silver coin from Egypt. This is the 1293 AH 22nd year of Sultan Abdul Hamid II reign, or 1896 AD, Egyptian ten Qirsh (or pistres) silver coin. The coin depicts the tughra of Abdul Hamid the second with the denomination under it and a rose to its right all surrounded by branches and having two crossing quivers under it all. The reverse says "Duribah Fi Misr" or struck in Egypt with the number 22 over the "beh" in duribah (for 22nd reginal year of Abdul-Hamid's reign) and the date 1293 AH under it for the year when Abdul-Hamid ascended the throne, all surrounded by branches and having three stars on top. Just a beautiful design, by Emil Weigand of Berlin Germany as evidenced by the "W" in the bottom of the obverse. The coin is beautiful, having lustrous fields with some toning along the edges and very well preserved details with minimum wear and loss of sharpness. A beautiful coin in great state of preservation to add to your collection. Please carefully review scan as it is part and parcel of our description.

Size and weight: This is a 10 Qirsh, weighs approximately 14 grams of 0.833 silver and is about 33 mm in diameter. References: It is KM #295.

Condition: I would grade this coin as an extremely fine to about uncirculated with lustrous appearance with all the details being very well preserved and very nice eye appeal. The coin is beautiful, having lustrous fields with some toning along the edges and very well preserved details with minimum wear and loss of sharpness. It does have a few minor scratches, a minimum amount bag marks, and minimal wear if any commensurate with its age and circulated status. The coin has very nice eye appeal.
