  • $ 84.99

Description: A beautiful small extremely fine or possibly about uncirculated coin. The coin, which is dated 1277 AH year 6 of Sultan Abdul Aziz's reign or 1865 AD Egyptian, while under Ottoman Rule, 20 para or half a Qirsh bronze coin. This beautiful silver coin depicts the toughra of Abdul Aziz (the Ottoman Sultan, in Turkey, at the time) on the obverse with a rose to its right and denomination below it. The reverse has the Legend "Duribah Fee Misr 1277" or struck in Misar, fustat on the outskirts of current day Cairo the capital of Egypt, and shows that it was struck in the 6th year of Abdul Aziz's reign, translating to 1865. The year 1277 AH ( 1861 AD) is the year when Abdul Aziz became sultan. The coin has great eye appeal and retain some of its original luster. It is KM 247, weighs ~0.6 gram and is ~15 mm. Please carefully view scan as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1865.

Mint: Misr or Fustat on the outskirts of Cairo the current capital of Egypt.

Size and Weight: This is a 20 para or half a Qirsh; measures about 15 mm and weighs about 0.6 grams.

References: It is KM #247.

Condition: I would grade this coin as an extremely fine or better (This coin would probably qualify for a grade of about uncirculated at least on the reverse) with all the details being very well preserved and has nice eye appeal. The coin has great eye appeal and retains some if its original luster. It is much better than the scan shows. It does have minor scratches, and wear commensurate with its age and circulated status. It also has a surface stain to with the D of Duribah on the reverse, which is not as prominent as the scan suggests. The coin is beautiful and has great eye appeal. Please see photo for additional condition information.
