Beautiful 1867 Gold Coin Italian Papal State 20 Lire Pope Pius IX Year 22 KM 1382.3 XXIIR

Description: A beautiful extremely fine gold coin from the Italian Papal States. This is the 11867 AN XXII Twenty Lire struck during the times of Pope Pius IX by the mint in Rome Italy. The coin depicts the image of the bust of pope Pius IX facing left on the obverse with the legend "PIVS IX.PON.MAX.A.XXII" surrounding the image. The reverse shows the denomination and date within a wreath and has the legend "STATO.PONTIFICO." along the edge. There is also the mint mark "R" in the bottom of the reverse. The coin weighs ~6.45 grams of 0.900 gold and measures ~21.5 mm in diameter. This is the rather scarce coin. It is beautiful and has a nice portrait of the Pontiff with honest wear. Size and Weight: The coin weighs ~6.45 grams silver and measures ~21.5 mm in diameter.

References: This KM 1382.3.

Condition: I would grade the coin as extremely fine with all of its details being well preserved and showing honest wear. The coin has minor scratches and bag marks and minor wear to the high points. It retains some of its original luster and is great looking with nice eye appeal. The coin has a nice portrait of the Pontiff with great preservation of the details.
