Beautiful 1877 Egypt Small Silver Coin One Qirsh Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II

  • $ 59.99

Description: A great looking about uncirculated small silver coin from Egypt. This is a one qirsh coin from the reign of Abdul Hamid II the Ottoman Sultan. The coin shows the sultan's tughra with a rose to the right and above the tughra. The coin also shows the denomination below the tughra. The reverse says Duribah Fi Misr (struck in Egypt) Abdul Hamid accession year of 1293 AH below it and the number 2 for the 2nd year of Abdul Hamid II's reign over the letter "Beh" on top. The coin is KM 277 measuring approximately 18 mm in diameter and weighing ~1.2 grams of 0.833 silver. This is a rare coin in this nice grade being of such low denomination, which was heavily circulated and finally melted for the value of the silver. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1877 AD - 1293 AH year 2 of Abdul Hamid II's reign.

Mint: Misr, or al Fustat on the outskirts of Cairo the current capital of Egypt.

Size and Weight: This is a one Qirsh and is ~18 mm in diameter and weighs ~1.2 grams of 0.833 silver.

References: It is KM #277.

Condition: For international buyers, please note that the US postal rates for overseas shipping are very high and we are unable to change them. Additional charges will be incurred depending on the value of the item. Please check the cost of shipping before bidding. I would grade this coin as a nicely toned about uncirculated with a nicely centered strike and all the details being well preserved. The coin has great eye appeal. The coin has scratches and some bag marks. It has minor signs of wear commensurate with its age and circulated state. It is much better than the photos suggest. A beautiful coin to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
