Beautiful 1941 Malaya Five Cents Silver Coin Crowned King George VI Left KM #3

  • $ 49.99

Description: A beautiful and lustrous, extremely fine or much better, 1941 silver coin from Malaya. This is the 5 cents coin depicting the crowned bust of king George VI facing left on the obverse. The obverse also has the legend "GEORGE VI KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA" surrounding the bust. The reverse has the denomination in the center with the legend "COMMISSIONERS OF CURRENCY MALAYA 1941" surrounding it. This is a relatively scarce coin in such high grade given its low denomination and the fact that it is silver. These coins have been heavily circulated and those remaining were melted for their silver. The coin has a reeded edge and retains some mint luster. It is KM #3, weighs ~1.4 gm, and is ~15.5 mm. A great coin to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1941.

Mint: Unknown, but most likely somewhere in the United Kingdom.

Size and weight: The coin measures approximately ~15.5 mm in diameter and weighs ~1.4 grams of 0.750 silver. The coin has a reeded edge.

References: It is KM #3.

Condition: I would grade the coin as extremely fine or much better with some residual luster and minimum wear commensurate with its circulated state. The coin has some light toning along the edges and a few surface marks such as scratches and bag marks. It has even wear throughout and is problem free. A beautiful coin worthy of a spot in your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information and to assess its state of preservation for yourself.
