Cairo Egypt Silver Coin 10 Para 1277H/Y8 Ottoman Sultan Abdul Aziz KM# 243 MS 64
Description: A beautiful uncirculated mint state 1868 AD (1277 AH year 8 of Abdul Aziz's reign) Egyptian, while under Ottoman Rule, 10 para or a Quarter Qirsh silver coin. This small and rather light coin is listed as KM#243 and depicts the tughra of Abdul Aziz (the Ottoman Sultan, in Turkey, at the time) on the obverse with a rose to the right and the denomination below it on the obverse. The reverse has the Legend "Duribah Fee Misr 1277" (struck in Fustat on the outskirts of modern-day Cairo the capital of Egypt with Abdul Aziz accession date 1277AH). It has the number 8 over the letter "beh" in duribah indicating it was struck in the 8th year of Abdul Aziz's reign, translating to 1867-1868. The year 1277 AH (1861 AD) is the year when Abdul Aziz became sultan. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Size and Weight: This is a 10 para or a quarter Qirsh. It measures about 13.5 mm in diameter and should weigh about 0.3 grams of 0.833 silver.

Condition: The coin is uncirculated and is graded Mint State (MS) 64 by NGC and comes in a plastic slab so labelled. As you can see from the photos, the coin uneven toning on the obverse and nice toning along the edge of the reverse. It has all of its details very well preserved and has great eye appeal. The coin has no wear and is much better than the photos suggest. Coin of such low denomination from this era are rare especially in such high grade.
