Nice Very Fine Crown Size Silver Coin 1913 AD 1327 AH year 6 Egyptian Twenty Qirsh Ottoman Sultan Muhammad V

  • $ 69.99

Description: A nice very fine silver coin from Egypt. This is a crown size twenty qirsh coin from the reign of Muhammad V the Ottoman Sultan. The coin shows the sultan's tughra, a rose to the right and above the tughra and the denomination below it all surrounded by a floral design with crossing quivers. The reverse says Duribah Fi Misr (struck in Egypt) with the number 6 for the 6th year of Muhammad V's reign over the letter "Beh" on top and three stars above it all. There is also Muhammad V accession year of 1327 AH below it, all surrounded by a floral and foliate design along the edge. It is KM 310 measuring approximately 40 mm in diameter and weighing 27.6 grams of 0.833 Silver. The coin has a reeded edge. Please carefully review the scan presented as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1913AD - 1327 AH year 6 of Mohammad V's reign.

Mint: Egypt, actually these were struck in Birmingham England as evidenced by the "H" in the bottom of the obverse.

Size and Weight: This is a 20 Qirsh and is ~40 mm in diameter and weighs ~28 grams.

References: It is KM #310.

Condition: I would grade this coin as a good very fine with all the details being relatively well preserved. The coin shows wear and losses to the details in the high points of the floral designs both on the obverse and reverse as well as showing wear to the stars on top of the obverse, the quivers in the bottom as well as the stars in the top of the reverse. The reverse of the coin also shows scratches at the edge above the three stars. The coin also has some additional scratches, some bag marks, and dings to the edge. It also has dark toning and is highly soiled. All these issues can be seen in the photos. The coin is much darker than the photos suggest and has nice eye appeal. Please see photos for additional condition information.
