Silver Coin Mexico 8 Reales 1795 FM Charles IIII of Spain Mint Mark Mo Toned XF+
Description: A great looking, nicely toned extremely fine or better 1795 Mexican crown size silver coin. This is the Charles IIII 8 Reales depicting the bust of King Charles the fourth of Spain, facing right, on the obverse. The obverse of this large, silver dollar size coin, has the legend "CAROLUS.IIII.DEI.GRATIA" surrounding the king's bust and the date 1795 below it. The reverse depicts the crowned arms of Spain between pillars with the legend "HESPAN.ET IND.REX" followed by the mint mark "Mo" then "8R. F.M." all surrounding the arms. These coins were used extensively in the US before the silver dollars were circulated. The coin is nicely toned and shows all the details very well. It is a truly a nice coin with great eye appeal and has nice heft to it. This is KM# 109 weighing ~27 grams and measuring ~39 millimeters. I would grade this coin as a nice extremely fine or better with all the details being well preserved and minor wear commensurate with its age and circulated state. The coin has even wear on both sides and many scratches as well as bag marks to the surface which can be seen in the photos. The coin is generally very beautiful and clean with honest wear and nice toning. The coin also has wear to the highest points but still retains its details and looks great.
