1817PJ Large Silver Coin Bolivia 8 Reales Mint Mark PTS Ferdinand VII King Of Spain Nicely Toned Extremely Fine or Better
Description: A nicely toned extremely fine or better 1817 PTS PJ Bolivian silver coin. This is the Ferdinand VII 8 Reales depicting the bust of King Ferdinand the seventh of Spain on the obverse. The obverse of this large, silver dollar size coin, has the legend "FERDIN.VII.DEI.GRATIA" surrounding the king's bust and the date 1817 below it. The reverse depicts the crowned arms of Spain between pillars with the legend "HESPAN.ET IND.REX" followed by the mint mark as a monogrammed "PTS.8 R. P.J." all surrounding the arms. These coins were used extensively in the US before the silver dollars were circulated. The coin is nicely toned and shows all the details very well. This is a nice coin that would make a great addition to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

References: KM#84.
Condition: I would grade the coin as extremely fine or better with all the details being very well preserved with some wear at the higher points commensurate with its age and circulated state. The coin has several dings and bumps to the edges. It shows quite a bit of the details of the king's facial features and hair and the legend is well preserves, obvious and very readable. The reverse retains the details of the arms and has less wear when compared to the obverse. The inscriptions on the reverse are also very readable and very well preserved.
